Recently I worked with the talented team at Cranky Al’s in Wauwatosa for a commercial food and beverage photoshoot. They were friendly, accommodating, and we took over their space for a few hours to update images for their menu items. We also got to experiment a little bit and do combinations of items for some additional social and marketing images for their visual library. Cranky Al’s is a fixture in the community. This hospitality photoshoot at Cranky Al’s focused on more than food. It captured the rhythm of a neighborhood institution in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Cranky Al’s has served the East Tosa community since 2006, building a loyal following around handcrafted donuts, scratch-made breakfast, and strong coffee.
Founded by Susie and Al, the business grew from a small donut shop into a full breakfast destination. The team still hand-crafts donuts daily and experiments with playful seasonal flavors. Regulars line up early for classics, creative specials, and a warm welcome from a familiar staff.
During the shoot, we highlighted the fresh products, and the care that goes into every order. We also captured tables filled with coffee and breakfast favorites. Natural-feeling lighting helped shape the visual story.
These images reflect what customers experience every morning. Cranky Al’s offers comfort, creativity, and consistency in every visit. The space feels lived-in and welcoming, just like the food.
This project celebrates a business rooted in community and routine. It shows how strong hospitality photography can tell a story that feels honest, local, and inviting.
